KEWASKUM – Junior Nick Roelse scored a season-high 24 points to lead the Sheboygan Falls Falcons to a 72-60 win over the Kewaskum Indians in Eastern Wisconsin Conference boys basketball action Tuesday, Dec. 22.

Falls improves to 2-3 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference (4-3 overall) and Kewaskum falls to 1-4 in the EWC (2-6 overall).

Roelse opened up the first quarter, scoring 15 points and junior Matt Hasler hit two 3-pointers to cover all 21 points scored in the quarter.

“Roelse and Hasler gave us quite lift in the first quarter,” said Falcons coach Eric Spielman. “Our offense worked well all night.”

Spielman said the press gave the offense the ball on many occasions and the team shot well beyond the 3-point arc.

The Falcons boosted their lead to 56-25, after three quarters of play. However, in the fourth quarter, Kewaskum came alive sinking seven 3-point shots.

“We substituted a lot, but these guys still have to play defense,” stated Spielman. “It’s something that can be fixed.”

Roelse, who has scored in double figures in all seven games this season, also collected 12 rebounds and five steals. Hasler, Spencer Hurlburt and Dan Duda added eight points each.

Mat Toles led Kewaskum in scoring with 13 points.
