Resorters cruise to fourth win in a row
ELKHART LAKE – A strong inside game propelled the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters to a 59-32 rout over Kiel in nonconference girls basketball here Tuesday night.
The Resorters jumped out to a 17-6 lead after one quarter, keyed by the 1-2 combination of post players Anna Vollrath and Chelsea Watry. Elkhart pounded the ball into Vollrath and Watry who scored eight and five points, respectively, in the opening period.
Elkhart improved to 5-2 and stretched its winning streak to four. The Raiders fell to 1-6.
“We took the ball to the basket well. That was our goal to get the ball inside,” said Resorter head coach Don Kulow.
“It was definitely a team effort. Chelsea is really playing well for us. Anna had a nice presence inside early on.
“Our press and traps took them out of their offensive rhythm. We handled their press well,” Kulow said.
Senior forward Kate Vollrath led Elkhart in scoring with 19 and Anna Vollrath hit 14. Watry and Anna Vollrath had a team-high six rebounds each.
Abbey Neils paced the Resorters in assists with four. Anna Vollrath led in steals with two. Watry and Anna Vollrath had a team-best two blocked shots apiece.
