DOROTHY KATHERINE LIMBERG

Dorothy Katherine Limberg, age 102, formerly of County C, Glenbeulah, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep early Monday morning, Dec. 28, 2009 in Littleton, Colo., where she had made her home for the last nine years with her daughter, Marilyn.

She was born in the town of Greenbush on Dec. 18, 1907, daughter of Herman and Gertude (Mueller) Goetsch. She attended Hull’s Crossing grade school, graduating from Plymouth High School in 1925 and Normal School in 1926. She taught for six years both in the town of Rhine and town of Sheboygan Falls (Johnsonville).

Dorothy married Conrad E. Limberg on June 17, 1933, at Trinity Reformed Church, Elkhart Lake. He preceded her in death Nov. 10, 1986.

The couple farmed the Limberg Homestead for 40 years before moving to their little farm near Glenbeulah. She worked beside Conrad milking cows by hand and driving the horses.

She was a member of Elkhart Lake Community United Church of Christ – teaching Sunday school and a member of Dorcus Circle. She was also a charter member of Farm Bureau.

Dorothy was primarily a homemaker. She enjoyed baking and cooking; flowers, fruit and vegetable gardening; and canning as well as sewing and mending. She was a member of the West Greenbush homemakers club.

She entertained many family and friends at her home with delicious dinner and always supper. She was a one-of-a-kind interesting person. A very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had many friends and acquaintances both in Wisconsin and Colorado. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She wrote: “I had a good life, don’t cry for me, love to you all.”

Survivors include one son, Merlin (Ruth) Limberg, Plymouth; two daughters, Phyllis (James) Stolp, Austin, Texas, and Marilyn (Jerry) Koblitz, Littleton, Colo.; seven grandchildren: Michael Limberg, Glenbeulah; Kevin (Suzi) Limberg, Rosholt; Dawn (Jack) Vater, Watertown; Debbie (Tom) Lawell, Apple Valley, Minn.; Patti (Dave) Pratt, Austin, Texas; Andrew (fiancée, Abby) Koblitz, Grand Junction, Colo., and Leah Koblitz, Littleton, Colo.; 11 great-grandchildren: Jeanette and Conrad M. Limberg; Alex, Austin, Isaiah, Tersony and Katia Vater; Travis and Miranda Lawell; Jessica and Blake Pratt; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Conrad, she was preceded in death by one son, Gordon; two brothers, Walter and Robert Goetsch; and one sister, Evelyn Arnoldi.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at Community United Church of Christ, Elkhart Lake, with Pastor Mike Kennedy officiating.

Visitation with family will be held Friday from 4-7 p.m. at church.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life and interment at Greenbush Cemetery will be held June 12, 2010. A memorial fund has been established in her name for Children’s Tumor Foundation and God’s Littlest Angels (Haitian Baby Ministry).
