Defense lets Elkhart down

FREDONIA – Defensive woes continued for the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters as they stumbled, 66-54, against Ozaukee in Central Lakeshore Conference boys basketball here Friday night.

The Resorters, who were blitzed by Random Lake, 78-59, Tuesday night, fell to 1-4 in the CLC (1-4 overall).

“We need to learn to play better defense. We need our games to be in the 50s to have a win,” said Resorter head coach Jeremy Harrison.

The Warriors built a 37-23 halftime lead, led by Eric Hartnett’s nine points. Hartnett finished the night with a team-high 20.

Senior guard Dane Blake sparked the Resorters’ attack with 26 points. Blake also led in assists with five and steals, two. Jon Petrie also had two steals.

Blake and teammate Travis Kosnicki had double-doubles. Kosnicki had 14 points and a team-best 12 rebounds. Blake pulled down 10 boards.

“We played offense just fine. Dane had a good game, so did Travis,” Harrison said. “We just need to start to mesh together.”
