Unbeaten Oostburg breezes past Elkhart
OOSTBURG – The Oostburg Flying Dutchmen built a 39-19 halftime lead as they cruised to an 80-41 drubbing of Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah in boys basketball action here Tuesday night.
Oostburg upped its first-place Central Lakeshore Conference record to 7-0 and went to 9-0 overall. The Resorters dropped to 1-5 in the CLC and overall.
Junior forward Mike Keller poured in 13 of his 15 points in the first half to ignite the Dutchmen’s offense. Oostburg blew the game open in the third period by outscoring Elkhart 26-9, led by Marcus Buehler’s 11 points, to go up 65-28.
“Oostburg is a great team. We just need to keep getting better,” said Resorter head coach Jeremy Harrison.
“We need to work on our defense overall as a team.”
Dane Blake led Elkhart in scoring with 20 points. Travis Kosnicki had a team-high eight rebounds and five assists. Jon Petrie led in steals with three.
Buehler paced Oostburg scorers with 18. Alex Stecker led in steals and assists with six apiece. The Resorters committed 24 turnovers to only eight for the Dutchmen.
“Dane played well overall. The guys off the bench got better,” Harrison said. Elkhart lost the junior varsity game (score unavailable) and was led in scoring by Taylor Kaboord with nine.
