`History on the Move’ rescheduled for Jan. 21

The Jan. 7 snowstorm caused the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center's History on the Move presentation to be cancelled. The program is rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. at Lakeview Community Library, 112 Butler St., Random Lake. The topic of the presentation is “Buchen and Baum - 1945 Sheboygan County Sketches.”

Gustave Buchen spent much of the early 1940s touring Sheboygan County interviewing the old-timers, gathering stories about their ancestors and early life in the county. Buchen then wrote a series of articles for the Sheboygan Press featuring the interesting and historic sites he discovered. His friend, artist A.J. Baum, drew a collection of sketches, which accompanied the articles. The articles and sketches were among the most popular items ever published in The Press.

The program is open to the public and free of charge. No registration is necessary.
