Bruesewitz propels Tigers to victory

HOWARDS GROVE – Senior guard Eric Bruesewitz hit a career-high 20 points to power the Howards Grove Tigers past Stockbridge, 60-40, in boys basketball play here Saturday night.

Bruesewitz was a red-hot 4-for-6 on three-pointers. His 11 points in the second half sparked the Tigers as they outscored the Indians 35-24 to bust the contest open.

“He was our most-consistent player. Eric really stepped up and was outstanding,” said Tiger head coach Chris Schroeder.

“Defensively, we had a pretty good performance. We were inconsistent on offense.” Bruesewitz also led the Tigers in assists with five.

The Tigers improved to 4-3 in the Central Lakeshore Conference (5-3 overall).

Schroeder thought forwards Zach Morgen and Ashton Holzman played well inside, especially on the boards. Morgen and Holzman paced the Tigers in rebounds with eight each.

Eric Dickmyer had a team-high two steals for Howards.

JV GAME Howards stayed unbeaten in junior varsity action with a 74-27 rout. The Tigers, 7-0 in the CLC (8-0 overall), were led on offense by Thomas Brickner’s 14 points.
