Howards Grove 2009 Football

HOWARDS GROVE – Senior Collin Horness was voted the Howards Grove Tigers’ Most Valuable Player for the 2009 football season by his teammates.
Horness, a running back and defensive back, led the Central Lakeshore Conference in rushing and ran for a team-high 1,344 yards and 17 touchdowns for the season.
The Tigers’ other award-winners are senior linebacker Zach Morgen, Defensive MVP; senior wide receiver Mike Verfuerth, Offensive MVP; senior Aaron Wagner, Mueller-Boeldt Award (top lineman); and senior lineman Chris Klueger, Arnhoelter Award (team’s best work ethic). It was the third straight season Klueger earned the award.
Morgen, an All-CLC first-team linebacker, led Howards in total tackles with 183 – 61 solos. Verfuerth led the Tigers in receiving with 50 catches for 817 yards and nine TDs.
The Tigers’ varsity letter winners include:
Seniors – Eric Bruesewitz, Eric Dickmyer, Mike Verfuerth, Collin Horness, Logan Nonnemacher, Aaron Wagner, Nick Wleklinski, Zach Morgen and Chris Klueger; juniors – Alex Milbrath, Zach Glaser, Jacob Schultz, Nate Jennerman, Cole Reinemann, Daine Sikora, Richards Rayfield, Duston Rabe, Jon Hitsman, Matt Wleklinski and Matt Brickner; and sophomores – Noah Steines, Braden Eichhorst, Adam Sheahan, Nathan Bitter and Ashton Holzman.
