ROBERT C. KOHLHAGEN
Robert C. “Bob” Kohlhagen, 89, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Monday evening, Jan. 11, 2010, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center.
Bob was born Oct. 16, 1920 in Sheboygan, son of the late Joseph and Myrle (DeLong) Kohlhagen. He was a 1938 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School.
On April 28, 1945, he married Lorraine Weber in Sheboygan. Lorraine preceded him in death Oct. 12, 2005.
Bob worked on the family farm for 45 years and was also employed with Richardson Lumber Co. for 15 years until his retirement in 1985.
Bob was a member of St. Peter Episcopal Church in Sheboygan Falls.
He was a founding member of the town of Sheboygan Falls Fire Department and served as chief for 20 years. Bob was a past president of the Eastern Wisconsin Fire Chief’s Association and a member of the Wisconsin State Fire Chief’s Association.
He served on the board of directors for the Sheboygan Falls Camp Fire Girls.
Bob enjoyed woodworking, bird watching, the outdoors, traveling with friends, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching his son and grandson race at Road America. Bob will always be known as an avid sports fan and for his great sense of humor.
Survivors include one daughter, Roberta (Rich Griffin) Kohlhagen of Loves Park, Ill.; one son, Bill (Jackie) Kohlhagen of Appleton, Wis.; and two grandchildren, Rachel Kohlhagen of Kimberly, Wis., and Trevor Kohlhagen of Appleton.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; his parents; and his brother, Joe Kohlhagen.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Samuel Nsengiyumva officiating.
