Howards Grove Tigers v.s. Cedar Grove-Belgium

CEDAR GROVE – The Howards Grove Tigers staved off a fourth-quarter rally by Cedar Grove- Belgium here Thursday night to win, 52-45 and stay unbeaten in Central Lakeshore Conference girls basketball.

Howards, led by the 1-2 scoring combination of Ali Benning and Alexis Lindstrom, hiked its CLC mark to 6-0 (9-1 overall) and made it seven straight victories.

Benning made 10 of 12 free throws in the fourth period to seal the win. The senior guard-forward finished the night with a game-high 19 points. Lindstrom contributed 17 points.

The Rockets, sparked by Abi von Heimburg’s nine points, outscored the Tigers 21-13 in the the third quarter.

Lindstrom paced the Tigers in steals with an outstanding seven and assists, six. Tatum Brickner added four steals. Benning had a team-high seven rebounds to go with three steals and assists each.

“I thought we played solid defense for the majority of the game,” said Tiger head coach Heidi Georgeff. “Alexis stepped up defensively by really putting some pressure on their point guard.”
