BRAVE BEARS
The Brave Bears December meeting began at 6 p.m. Thursday Dec. 4, with members wrapping gifts for Sunny Ridge Nursing Home and Libby’s House and making candy grams for the Sheboygan Cancer Clinic.
The meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by President Sheila Syrjala.
American pledge was lead by Michael Bimmel and the 4-H pledge was lead by Sheila Syrjala.
There was no secretary report given as Secretary Josh Konrad needed to step down from duties and this was the first meeting for new Secretary Dakota Ortiz.
The treasurer’s report was given by Tiffany Konrad. Correspondences were read by President Sheila Syrjala as follows:
A thank-you from the Sheboygan Falls Food Pantry for food donations.
A $10 check received from Community Bank and Trust for the club’s participation in the Community Builder Award at the Clover Award Banquet.
A letter from Rocky Knoll regarding Christmas gifts. Roll call was taken by Secretary Dakota Ortiz with the question, “What would you like for Christmas?”
Old Business:
• Mr. Syrjala reminded families that club dues of $8 per member were due tonight.
• Mrs. Bimmel informed members who do not have a club T-shirt and would like one, that there were forms to fill out to get one.
• Katherine Luther reported that the club rang bells at two locations on two separate days, Saturday, Nov. 29, at Blattner's Piggly Wiggly and Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the southside Wal-mart.
• Stephanie Wieck told members that the money the club donated for Christmas gift purchases for Sunny Ridge Nursing Home and Libby’s House was completed and members wrapped the gifts tonight.
New Business
• Rachel Kroeplien asked that members pick up their pizza/pie sale items from their house Saturday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m.
• Michael Bimmel informed members the club would be participating in the Main Street Memories fundraiser at the Sheboygan Falls Co-op Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Shannon, Emma and Ari Schuren told members the Sheboygan Falls Main Street Memories Christmas Parade would be Saturday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m. in Sheboygan Falls. Participating club members were asked to be in the Bemis parking lot on Mill Street by 4:40 p.m.
• Rachel Kroeplien and Steven Derus were very excited about the club Christmas Party to be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 6:15 p.m. at the Sheboygan Falls Town Hall.
• Mr. Syrjala provided information to members and families on Project Angel Hugs. Mr. Syrjala would like to have our February meeting there. Members voted to have the Feb. 5 meeting at Project Angel Hugs and participate in a Community Service project there.
• Sheila Syrjala and David Derus asked members if they would be interested in tubing at Sunburst as a winter-fun activity. Members were very interested. Mr. Syrjala provided information regarding the two-hour trip. The cost for members was announced a $14. Members voted for club to pay half of each member’s fee.
• Tiffany and Josh Konrad will look into dates and places to have the club’s bowling party.
• Stephanie Wieck asked members when they would like to have a movie-and-popcorn night. After discussion among members and parents about the club’s January meeting needing to be pushed back due to the New Year’s holiday, it was decided that the January meeting would be held Friday, Jan. 9, at 5:30 p.m., with a pizza-and-movie night to follow.
• Rachel Kroeplien asked members and parents to send her pictures to be used in the end-of-the-year slide show and to also be shared with reporter Nick Bimmel.
• Reporter Nick Bimmel made a motion for the club to issue him money to start his reporter’s book.
Announcements:
• Congratulations to all club members earning Clover Awards this year: Nick Bimmel, Josh Konrad and Jeremiah Ortiz – Cloverbud Achievement Award. Laura Basch and Tiffany Konrad – Green Clover Award. Michael Bimmel and Dakota Ortiz – Bronze Clover Award. Steven Derus – Sliver Clover Award.
Sheila Syrjala – Gold Clover Award.
Erica Lorenz received the Junior Reporter Award and Michael Bimmel was recognized with a Secretary Award.
Congratulations also to all members who helped our club work towards the Community Builder Award.

• Michael Bimmel gave a speech on his keychain collection. • Nicholas Bimmel gave a speech on his pin collection. The December meeting was adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
