MARY J. MAYER
Mary J. Mayer, age 77, of W6062 County W, Cascade, Wis., passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 18, 2010, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mary was born July 3, 1932 in Shorewood, Wis., a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Cychosz Bullock. She attended Lake Bluff Grade School and graduated from Shorewood High School in 1950.
In June 1953, she married Kenneth Mayer in Milwaukee. The couple resided in the town of Lyndon for many years. He preceded her in death in January 1971.
She became a real estate agent and owned and operated Cascade Realty for over 10 years. She also owned and operated Crafter’s, an art and craft supply store in her home.
On May 24, 1987, she married Robert “Bob” Proulx in Milwaukee, Wis. The couple have resided in rural Cascade since their marriage. He preceded her in death Jan. 24, 2005.
She served as secretary for the Lyndon Town Board for over 20 years.
She bowled in the Thursday Night Women’s League in Cascade and also Sunday Night Couples.
She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, tai chi and playing sheepshead at the Senior Center every Wednesday morning. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family.
Mary is survived by three children: Daniel (Leah) Mayer of Cascade, Joseph Mayer (special friend, Delores) of Cascade and Sarah (Michael) Poull of Port Washington, Wis.; seven grandchildren: Marissa, Kenneth, Samantha, Haley, Emily, Alex and Lucas; and one brother, John Bullock of Shorewood, Wis. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
Mary was also preceded in death by one son, David Mayer.
Funeral services were held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Very Rev. Dennis Van Beek, pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, officiated. Burial took place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in the town of Mitchell.
Visitation was held at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth on Wednesday until the time of services.
