Falls wrestlers gain momentum

After a slow start to the season and several untimely weather postponements, the Sheboygan Falls Falcons wrestling team is starting to get back on track.
Falls finished in fourth place with 219 points at the 13-team Cutler Classic Invitation Saturday, Jan. 17, at New London.
Coleman won the overall meet with 319.5 points.
Freshman Lucas Lambrecht (112 pounds), junior Nathan Brown (119 pounds) and senior A.J. D’Alberto (215 pounds) each took first-place honors in their respective weight classes for the Falcons, with perfect 4-0 records.
Seniors Josh Hammen (140 pounds) and Cullin Conklin (189 pounds) both posted third-place showings. Junior Ben Tenpas (285 pounds) took fourth and senior Brandon Debbink (152 pounds) won fifth place.
Other top finishers for the Falcons were freshman Jeff Becker (seventh, 125 pounds), sophomore Jeremiah Kramasz (eighth, 130 pounds), Ryan Fillafer (eighth, 145 pounds) and junior Eric Albrecht (eighth, 160 pounds).
“Our guys were so hungry to wrestle,” said Falcons coach Fred Brown. “We came off a tough tournament last weekend and carried on the momentum. Our kids are such competitors.”
Brown said that he was proud that 11-of-14 wrestlers placed in the top eight. The Falcons took the overall pin count with 16 and Nathan Brown registered his 100th career win when he took the 119-pound title. Becker was third overall in pins with three in 6:16.
