DOROTHY P. ROETHEL
Dorothy P. Roethel, 86, formerly of 1726 N. 10th St., Sheboygan, died Monday morning, Jan. 25, 2010, at the Sheboygan Senior Community.
Born July 25, 1923 in Franklin, town of Herman, Dorothy was a daughter of the late George and Bertha Wangemann Meggers. She attended Country Elementary School and graduated from Central High School in 1941.
On July 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to Gerhard R. Roethel in Sheboygan. They were married for 48 years before Gerhard preceded her in death Nov. 8, 1995.
Dorothy was a homemaker who also previously worked at the Leverenz Shoe Co. and Badger Freight Ways.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, the Women's Guild and the Altar Society.
She is survived by her two sons, Ronald (fiancée, Karen Walsh) of Port Washington and Robert and Laurie of rural Sheboygan Falls; four grandchildren, Erich and Quintin of Sheboygan Falls, Tanya and special friend, Mike Kelly, of Plymouth and Corey of rural Sheboygan Falls; one great-granddaughter, Maleena Kelly; a sister-in-law, Roma Roethel of Sheboygan Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her husband, Gerhard, she was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services for Dorothy will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at St. John United Church of Christ, 13th and Lincoln Avenue, Sheboygan. The Rev. Gregory Whelton, pastor, will officiate. Interment will take place in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
Family and friends are welcome at the church Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
