Best Christmas ever
To the Editor:
This past Christmas was the best Christmas I have experienced in my 48 years of life.
Both my sons, Tyler and Zach Schneider, were able to come home for the holidays.
They have chosen similar careers in the United States Navy. Both are pursuing their career dreams by representing their family name and their country. This makes a parent tingle with pride.
Tyler is assigned to the USS Florida submarine, as a missiles technician, based in Kingsbay, Ga. Zach is also pursuing a career as a missiles technician. He too will be finishing his remaining nine months of school in Kingsbay, GA.
I’m fortunate to have both sons representing our country in the U.S. Navy.
I also have prayers, concerns and worries for my stepson, Derik Liebenstein, who is representing our country in the U.S. Army.
In April, he is being deployed to Afghanistan for up to 1½ years. He is going into a volatile area, leaving behind his family, including his 2-month-old son.
This is a great example of commitment and dedication to our country.
When you see a person that is serving, or has served our country, give them the respect they deserve and thank them.
I hope next Christmas is even better, with all three of my sons home for the holidays.
