MARION J. HENSCHEL
Marion J. Henschel, age 87, of Plymouth passed away peacefully early Monday morning, Jan. 25, 2010, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility, where she has been a resident several years.
She was born Nov. 10, 1922 in Plymouth, a daughter of the late Harry and Ida (Brockman) Janzen. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1940.
In 1944, she married Walter Henschel Jr. They lived in the town of Rhine following their marriage.
She had been an active member of St. Paul’s Christian Church in the town of Rhine, and a member of its Ladies Aid.
Marion had been employed as a cook at the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah school for nine years and then cooked at Rocky Knoll for 13 years retiring in 1985.
In retirement she kept herself busy volunteering at Rocky Knoll, the Plymouth Senior Center and the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Plymouth.
Marion will be remembered as a giving person, cooking and baking not only for her family but also for her many friends.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Ruth Henschel of Plymouth; her foster sister, Pearl Meyer; her daughter-in-law’s family, who meant a great deal to Marion as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Wallace.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the Wittkopp-Schneider Funeral Home in Plymouth with the Rev. Thomas Fleischmann, chaplain of Sheboygan County Health Care Centers, officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Christian Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Wittkopp-Schneider Funeral Home from 3:30 p.m. Wednesday until the hour of service.
