Resorters fall shy

CEDAR GROVE – Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah rallied back in the second half but host Cedar Grove- Belgium used a late scoring burst to down the Resorters, 51-46, in a boys basketball game Tuesday night.

The Resorters outscored the Rockets 10-3 in the third quarter to erase a 28-21 halftime deficit and knot the game at 31-all. Cedar Grove outscored Elkhart 20-15 in the final period, led by Jesse Anderson and Nic Vrubley who netted seven and six points, respectively. Vrubley drained a pair of three-pointers.

Elkhart, which has lost 10 in a row, fell to 1-1o in the Central Lakeshore Conference (1-12 overall).

“We played well in the third quarter. We just fell short in the end. We gave up too many points in the fourth,” said Resorter head coach Jeremy Harrison.

“The starters played well as a team.” Dane Blake led Elkhart in scoring with 24 and assists, four. Jon Petrie had a team-best seven rebounds. The Resorters had 16 turnovers to only nine for the Rockets.
