ADRIAN L. DAMROW

Adrian L. Damrow, age 90, of Howards Grove, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at Sunny Ridge Healthcare Center in Sheboygan.

He was born March 22, 1919, in the town of Herman, a son of the late William and Selma (Krumruy) Damrow.

He attended the Green Bay Road School and Howards Grove High School. During World War II, he was a sergeant with the 331st Division of Engineers with the U.S. Army, serving in the Pacific Theatre in the Aleutian Islands.

After his honorable discharge from the Army, Adrian married the former Adela Huesterberg on May 24, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove.

Adrian was employed at Garton Toy and later the Vollrath Company, where he retired as a supervisor in 1967. He bought the Edgewood Restaurant in Howards Grove in 1967, later building the Edgewood Motel on the same property. In 1973, Adrian and Adela sold the restaurant to their son, Robert; later, in 1983, selling the motel and moving to Pickerel Lake, where they lived until moving back to Howards Grove in 1995.

Adrian was always active, spending winters with Adela in Las Vegas, participating in various bowling, softball and hardball leagues. For many years, he was involved with the pee-wee baseball league in Howards Grove, and was a former member of the VFW Post 9924 of Howards Grove and the Howards Grove Athletic Association.

In addition to his loving wife of 62 years, Adrian is survived by two sons, Tom (Penny) of Howards Grove and William (Shirley) of Battle Creek Mich.; grandchildren, Tom R. (Stephanie), Brett (Carrie), Anna Marie (Jason) Brasmstedt, Travis (Lynda), Tracy (Chris) Roth, Dan Everett, Rhonda (Tim) Blake, Chad Block and Stacey (Scott) Wergert, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

Adrian was also preceded in death by a son, Robert; a sister, Myrtle Rowe; and two step-brothers, George and Robert.

A funeral service was held for Adrian on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 31, at Zimmer-Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center. The Rev. Darrel Bergelin officiated. Interment took place in Trinity Cemetery of Howards Grove.

A memorial fund has been established in the name of Adrian L. Damrow.
