Unions’ generosity to United Way reaches many

By Jim Baumgart Sheboygan County Supervisor

On Saturday, Jan. 23, my wife Carol and I had the pleasure of joining upwards of 150 people at the Emil Mazey Hall near Kohler to celebrate the annual labor banquet with unions from throughout the lakeshore area. Besides an excellent meal, good music, lots of door prizes, meeting old friends, speeches and awards, time was taken by United Way to recognize the strong financial support that union members provide each year.

The Sheboygan and Plymouth United Way is a partnership of a cross-section of unions, businesses and workers of every kind who support agencies that help people. That cooperation, even in tough economic times, has been successful in meeting the financial goals set by the Board of Directors of the United Way and members of the United Way Campaign. It is a credit to the people working together and to the outstanding leadership – it is indeed a class act.

The United Way provided a pamphlet listing the many organizations they help financially in varying degrees. That list was impressive and included the following:
• Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin, Ginny Nyhuis, contact person, 838-311
