Panthers drop dual, finish 7-2
BERLIN – Plymouth closed out its boys swimming and diving dual schedule with a 99-71 nonconference loss to a strong Berlin/Green Lake squad here Tuesday night.
PHS enjoyed a successful dual season with a 7-2 record. The Panthers’ only other defeat was against Sheboygan South. Their dual winning streak was halted at three.
Berlin/Green Lake won seven of the 11 events in the metered pool. Diving wasn’t held.
Senior Jesse Gambrell continued his outstanding season for the Panthers with a pair of victories. Gambrell captured first in the 200-meter individual medley in 2 minutes, 26.02 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.20.
Panther head coach Clare Sedlacek thought it was a good meet for the varsity and junior varsity. PHS lost, 60-56, in JV competition.
PHS won four events in the JV dual: 200 medley relay – Jack Travis, Robert Novak, Wendell Strutz and James Seibert; Jon Hintz, 100 freestyle; 200 freestyle relay – Adam Bunke, Hintz, Lane Slaughter and Zach Strege; and the 400 freestyle relay – Travis, Josh Smith, Mitch Tourner and Strutz.
