CATHERINE THOMAS BUYZE

Catherine Thomas Buyze, 94, a resident of Pine Haven Christian Home, died there Monday morning, Feb. 1, 2010.

Catherine was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Sheboygan to John and Jana (Buteyn) DeMey. She attended Sheboygan Christian School and Sheboygan Vocational School.

On March 11, 1937, Catherine was united in marriage to Harold Thomas. The couple resided on North 40th Street, town of Sheboygan, most of their married life. Harold preceded her in death Aug. 22, 1970.

In 1988 she married Daniel Buyze, who preceded her in death in 1989.

Mrs. Buyze was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheboygan for many years, before becoming a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg.

Catherine enjoyed playing cards and helping others, especially baby-sitting for children in the Sheboygan area.

Survivors include two sons, James and Nancy Thomas and Roger and Alice Thomas, all of the town of Sheboygan Falls; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Michael Holfeltz of Cleveland, Wis.; daughtersin law, Jayne Thomas of Plymouth and Audrey Thomas of the town of Sheboygan Falls; and other family members.

In addition to Harold and Daniel, Catherine was preceded in death by three sons, infant son, Eugene; Jerome Thomas, and Martin Thomas; a daughter, Carol Holfeltz; two grandsons, Keith Thomas and Randy Thomas; three sisters, Marie, Flo and Nel; and two brothers, Martin and Neil.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels, Sheboygan. The Rev. Les Kuiper, pastor of First Christian Reformed Church, Oostburg, will officiate. Burial will take place in Wildwood Cemetery.

A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorn Chapels on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.

A memorial fund has been established in her name for First Christian Reformed Church, Oostburg, and Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls.

Catherine will always be remembered for her strong Christian faith and her daily Bible study.
