Opinion

To the Editor:

Our state government has really done it this time. These people have no idea what they are doing.

You think you are over-taxed now? Wait ‘til you get your new auto premium notice. That will be a real hit on your pocketbook.

Remember in one of my articles I said, “Throw away your pocketbook because you won’t have any money to put in it.”

Does the state really think that by having mandatory auto insurance everyone who does not have auto insurance will run out and buy it, because the state says it’s mandatory?

The people who drive without insurance will still drive without it.

Now the premium will go up 10-to-20 percent or more. Guess what? Now we have a new group of people who say “food on the table or auto insurance.”

Guess what? Now we have a new group of people who dump their mandatory auto insurance.

Insurance companies say we do not have enough premiums to pay claims and we need a rate increase. Now more people drop out of mandatory auto insurance.

I lived in California and because mandatory auto insurance got so high, the governor put a moratorium on mandatory auto insurance – because only the rich could afford it. There were close to 40 percent of the people driving without it.

We had the lowest auto insurance rates in the Midwest. You can kiss that goodbye.

All we had to do is raise the coverage on uninsured motorists and underinsured motorists and that would have solved the problem for very little money. Oh, well, that’s our state Democraticcontrolled government and governor.

Folks, we had better start looking at what the person we vote for is all about – and not is he a Democrat or Republican. The party is over.
