Blake erupts for 32, Resorters end slide
ELKHART LAKE – Senior guard Dane Blake played the game of his life in powering the Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah Resorters past Random Lake, 75-58, in a boys basketball game here Thursday night.
Blake exploded for a career-high 32 points – 20 in the second half. He also had a team-high 14 rebounds, five assists, two blocked shots and three steals. The rebound total is a personal best.
The Resorters, who snapped a 12-game losing skid, improved to 2-11 in the Central Lakeshore Conference (2-14 overall). The Rams fell to 2-11 in CLC play (4-12 overall).
“We had 21 assists and played great team ball,” said Resorter head coach Jeremy Harrison.
“It seemed that everything we did seemed to go our way. We need to keep taking care of the ball and having fun.”
Senior guard Travis Kosnicki contributed 22 points for the Resorters, including 11 in the fourth quarter. Kosnicki shared the team lead in assists with five. Jon Petrie pulled down nine boards.
Elkhart busted the contest open by outscoring Random Lake 39-23 during the second and third quarters combined. Blake keyed the Resorters’ offense in the third period with a 12-point outburst.
The Resorters shot very well in the opening half at 56 percent (15 of 27) as they mounted a 36-22 halftime advantage.
Andy Pohl knocked in 19 points to pace the Rams.
JV GAME
Random Lake outscored Elkhart 9-1 in the third quarter to key a 47-40 junior varsity victory. Justin Schneider tallied 20 points to lead the Resorters who trailed only 26-23 at halftime.
Ollie Sadiq added 10 points for Elkhart.
