Tigers grab CLC lead

SHEBOYGAN – The Howards Grove Tigers seized sole possession of first place in the Central Lakeshore Conference girls basketball race with a 60-20 drubbing of host Sheboygan Christian Friday night.

Howards upped its CLC record to 12-1 (15-2 overall). Oostburg, which was tied for the lead with the Tigers, dropped to second at 11-2 after Friday night’s 53-51 loss to Ozaukee.

The Tigers blew the game open with a 22-0 run in the first half. Howards led 35-14 at halftime. Sophomore guard Alexis Lindstrom tallied nine of her game-high 13 points in the first half to key Howards’ offense.

Lindstrom had a strong all-around game as she also led her team in assists with four and steals, five. Ali Benning and Tatum Brickner led in rebounds with eight each.

“I thought Tatum had a very nice game,” said Tiger head coach Heidi Georgeff.

“Tatum can give us some nice scoring from the inside and she rebounded aggressively which is something I have been asking for this season.”

Brickner was 5-for-9 from the field and scored 11 points.
