Choral dinner gala to benefit Lakeshore youth and adult chorales
Lakeshore Chorale, the Sheboygan area’s premier choral organization, providing choral education and performance opportunities to all ages in a creative and challenging environment, will present “Wine, Women, and Song,” a choral dinner gala to benefit both the Lakeshore Chorale and Lakeshore Youth Chorale, on Saturday, March 6, at Breaking Bread, 6451 S. Business Drive in Sheboygan.
Reservations for “Wine, Women, and Song” must be made by Feb. 20.
“Wine, Women, and Song” guests will experience the charm and romance of a continental evening with decorations created by Bernie Markevitch, an elegant five-course dinner and dessert, and a concert with diverse and entertaining musical selections. Guests may choose Herb Infused Char-Broiled Pork Medallions, Salmon in Lemon Cream Demi-Glace, or Chicken Marsala over Angel Hair Pasta as their entrée. A vegetarian entrée is also available.
The gala event begins with cocktails at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 and a concert by the Lakeshore Chorale.
Music Director Wayne Wildman will conduct the Lakeshore Chorale and soloists in selections to satisfy every taste – pieces ranging from songs by Johannes Brahms to music from Broadway musicals.
“Wine, women, and song have been fertile topics for the imaginations of composers throughout the ages,” Wildman said. “Our program will include drinking songs by Purcell and Haydn, a renaissance madrigal, as well as numbers from opera, operetta, and Broadway, capped off by the infectious rhythms and luscious harmonies of Brahms. The meal will be substantial but the entertainment will be mostly light.”
Tickets can be purchased via the organization’s Web site: www.lake shorechorale.org, or from any Lakeshore Chorale member. Tables of 10 may also be purchased for a discounted price. Guests must select a desired entrée at the time of purchase. For more information, call (920) 451-1863.
