Due to an overwhelming response, the Sheboygan County Home Builders Association (SCHBA) is again providing a second course for building contractors, home remodelers, painters, electrical and plumbing contractors, or anyone involved in the building trades that may work on homes built prior to 1978. The seminar is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 15, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and will be held at Chissy’s Pub, State 57 and State 28 at Waldo.
Space is limited to 16 registrants and advance registration for a fee is required.
As of April 22, 2010, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services along with the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is requiring those involved in renovations in homes built before 1978, disturbing more than 6 square feet of interior space or more than 20 square feet of exterior space to have Wisconsin Lead- Safe Renovator certification. This could include remodeling, repair, rehab, weatherization, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, window refinishing, carpentry, etc.
This eight-hour course meets the required training to apply for certification through the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. In addition, those holding a Dwelling Contractor qualifier will also earn eight hours of continuing education credits.
In this class, learn about the regulations to include proper lead-safe practices during setup, proper leadsafe practices while the work is being completed, proper lead-safe practices during cleanup, information regarding the recordkeeping requirements and training the non-certified renovation workers.
