Careers highlighted at LTC Open Houses
Lakeshore Technical College is offering the general public the chance to take a close-up look at program areas and career offerings during three Career Night Open Houses in February and March.
Careers in trade and industry, agriculture and apprenticeship will be highlighted Feb. 17; careers in public safety will be highlighted Feb. 24; and careers in business and technology, and health and human services will be highlighted March 3.
Each open house will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at LTC’s Cleveland campus. Specific locations vary depending on the divisions highlighted. Signage will direct visitors to their intended destinations.
During the open house events, participants will have the option to experience classroom projects typical to LTC’s program areas. Along with interactive activities and tours, individuals in attendance also can speak directly with faculty about the programs and careers they’re interested in.
Staff from the admissions, financial aid and student services areas at LTC also will be on hand to offer more detailed information about getting an education at LTC.
Also available at the Career Night Open Houses will be information about the Great Career Giveaway. In celebration of LTC’s 35th anniversary on the Cleveland campus, this contest aims to make one person’s dream of a new career come true simply by sharing how a new career will change their life. The grand prizewinner will receive up to two years of tuition, books and fees, and two runners-up will receive $750 scholarships.
The Great Career Giveaway is open to all high school juniors and seniors, and anyone who is older than 18 and not accepted into an LTC program as of Dec. 31, 2009. The application and official rules can be found online at www.greatcareergiveaway.com.
