New banking facility in Cedar Grove

National Exchange Bank & Trust recently began construction on a new state-of-the-art facility in downtown Cedar Grove at the former location of the JM Bruce Foundry.

The 2,500-square-foot, completely handicapped-accessible bank will provide a more efficient use of space and easier access for customers.

The facility will bridge the history of the current building with new technologies. Constructed in 1921, as part of Citizens Bank, the property now occupied by National Exchange Bank & Trust originally included a barbershop, two shower stalls, a ladies’ hair dressing room and two bowling lanes in the basement while the upstairs was a dental facility. The new building will retain many of the historical fixtures from the current building including doors and light fixtures and the granite from the teller area.

“The investment in this new facility underscores the commitment National Exchange Bank & Trust has made to the community of Cedar Grove,” Jeff De Smidt, vice president of the National Exchange Bank & Trust Cedar Grove Office, stated.

“We are looking forward to continuing our 20-year history of service to the community from our new facility in mid-2010,” he added.

The drive-up banking area will include three lanes. One lane will be exclusively for 24-hour automated teller machine (ATM) transactions. Full-service lobby banking will also be available including safe deposit boxes.

National Exchange Bank & Trust is an independent bank with 27 locations throughout east-central Wisconsin. In addition to Cedar Grove, National Exchange Bank & Trust has neighboring Sheboygan County locations in Adell, Cascade, Sheboygan Falls, Howards Grove, Elkhart Lake and Glenbeulah.
