Airport runway design project funded
Gov. Jim Doyle has approved a $170,000 project to fund design engineering at the Sheboygan County Memorial Airport.
The governor’s action releases $136,000 in state funds to complete design engineering for reconstruction of Taxiways F1 and F2 — the parallel taxiways to the primary runway. Sheboygan County is contributing the remaining $34,000.
According to Kim Kaarto, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will provide plans and specifications for reconstruction of the pavement.
There are 115 aircraft based at the Sheboygan County Memorial Airport, and approximately 55,000 take-offs and landings each year.
