Resorters send pair to sectional

RANDOM LAKE – Senior Luke Klotzbach and sophomore Kyle Rentmeester will represent the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters in sectional wrestling after placing second in the Division 3 regional tournament here Saturday.

Klotzbach, 32-14, competed at 130 pounds and Rentmeester, 28-18, wrestled at 160. The first two finishers at each weight class qualify for the sectional Saturday at Cedar Grove-Belgium, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Oostburg won the regional with 235 points and Elkhart took fourth at 126. Oostburg advances to the team sectional Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Ozaukee High School in Fredonia.

Klotzbach advanced to the finals with a pin over Ozaukee’s Alex Thill. The Elkhart competitor was pinned in the finals by Random Lake’s Nick Mudlaff.

Rentmeester earned a spot in the title match with an 8-1 win over Oostburg’s Aaron Bruggink in the semifinals. In the finals, Cedar Grove-Belgium’s Tyler Garcia major decisioned Rentmeester, 14-4.

Each of the other 10 Resorters were place-winners. They included: third – Shane Schanke at 140, Adam Ruechel at 171, Deric Lightle, 189 and Dylan Entringer at 285; fourth – Austin Schmidt at 103, Adam Klotzbach at 119, Joey Gruenke at 135, Rich Schamberger, 145 and Tyler Jones at 152; and fifth – Neven Grgic at 112.
