Circuit Court Report – Feb. 17

The following persons either stipulated to the indicated charge or had their cases heard in Sheboygan County Circuit Court. All information is taken from case documents.

Matthew J. Dekker, 38, W4048 County G, Cedar Grove. $135 and six months’ local jail for vehicle operator fleeing/eluding an officer – felony. At 1:55 a.m. July 17, 2009, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call from the town of Lima. The caller indicated that someone had just driven through their front yard and then crashed near Gibbsville Cheese. After the deputy took the report, he observed the deep ruts in the lawn, but did not find a crash site. While the officer was driving on County OO, he observed a vehicle approaching him from behind and not slowing – the vehicle also went through a stop sign without stopping. The officer stepped on the accelerator and turned to avoid being hit. He activated his lights and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. The driver, Dekker, eventually pulled into a driveway and then ran. A foot chase ensued and Dekker was caught. Dekker refused to submit to a breath test, but based on the odor of intoxicants and the way he was driving, he was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. According to the criminal complaint, Dekker has six prior convictions for operating while intoxicated.

Eugene Hill, 35, 3122 N. 12th St., Sheboygan. $147 and 24 months’ probation for misappropriating identity to obtain money – felony, Sept. 18, 2009. Hill took two checks from a friend’s house, made them out to himself, forged the check holder’s name, and cashed the checks at a local bank.
