Annual EFC Mission Conference highlights Middle East and North Africa

While Middle East/North Africa is the global focus of the Evangelical Free Church’s 61st annual Mission Conference, this year’s theme “Look and See … What God Is Doing” invites participants to see how God is at work in their own sphere of life, as well as around the world.

Set for March 5-7, the weekend activities begin Friday with a 5:45 p.m. international dinner, featuring food from around the world.

Tickets must be purchased by March 1 at the church office.

A flag ceremony will kick off the 7 p.m. program, followed by the keynote speaker, Rev. Ed Pollasch, with ReachGlobal, the mission outreach arm of the Evangelical Free Church of America. Rev. Pollasch and his wife, Janet, lived for 10 years in Tanzania and Kenya before recently accepting the responsibility for leadership development and pastoral training of national leaders in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) area of the world.

Saturday holds special social opportunities for attendees to interact with various missionary speakers. The 8 a.m. men’s breakfast features Mr. Bob Mulloy, originally from Sheboygan, speaking on literacy as an outreach ministry. Women can attend a 10 a.m. brunch at their choice of eight host homes. Both events are potluck style with advance sign-up appreciated.

The Saturday evening program features both Rev. Pollasch and Pastor Salenga, ReachAfrica team leader.

Junior and senior high teens will have a pizza party at 4 p.m. Sunday with special guests, Ryan Crossett and Ryan and Holly Menzer. The Crossetts, of Oostburg, will soon leave for South Asia to serve under the auspices of New Tribes Mission. The Menzers, originally of Sheboygan, serve with Campus Crusade for Christ in music ministry. The “Kids for Missions” program, designed for children in grades 1-4, will be held each evening of the conference. Free childcare (babies through kindergarten) will be provided during all three evening programs plus Sunday morning.

The conference concludes Sunday at 6 p.m. with brief presentations by the keynote speaker as well as Mr. Jim Snyder of TouchGlobal, the compassion arm of the national Free Church denomination.

For more information, call the church office at 452-6520 or visit the Web site at www.sheboy ganefc.org. The office is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. plus Sunday mornings.
