ROBERT L. KUENNE

Robert L. Kuenne, 87, of 915 Broadway Apt. 4, Sheboygan Falls, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at his home.

Robert was born July 19, 1922 in Sheboygan, son of the late Harry and Anna Kuenne. He was a 1941 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45 in World War II in the Battle of Normandy.

On Aug. 31, 1946, he married Gladys M. Stroschein in Sheboygan. Gladys preceded him in death Sept. 2, 2007.

Robert was employed with the Vollrath Co. for 18 years until the time of his retirement in 1987. He previously worked as a custodian at Farnsworth Junior High.

Robert was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Sheboygan.

He enjoyed playing sheepshead, gardening, and fishing. Robert also enjoyed visiting with his nieces and nephews and other family members and telling stories of his experiences in World War II.

Survivors include his sister, Elaine (Karl) Kuehn of Arizona; one sister-in-law, Helen (Hilbert) Kuitert of Sheboygan; four nieces, Barbara (Lee) Gumm of Kohler, Nancy Mayer of Sheboygan Falls, Peggy (Steve) Hotz of Sheboygan and Jean Wychesit of Sheboygan; and two nephews, John (Tammy) Kuitert of Sheboygan and Jeff Kuehn of Manitowoc.

Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Bryan Osladil officiating. Burial took place at Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan.

Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday until the time of the service.
