PHILIPP W. KALCHTHALER

Philipp W. Kalchthaler, age 68, of 1729 Tall Grass Lane, Plymouth, Wis., passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, Feb. 22, 2010, at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 23, 1941 in Sheboygan, Wis., a son of the late Virgil and Helen Pekoll Kalchthaler. He attended Holy Name Catholic Grade School and graduated from St. Lawrence Seminary in 1959.

He attended Marquette University for his undergraduate studies and then received his law degree from Chicago Kent College of Law. On Oct. 23, 1971, he married Joyce Witthuhn at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheboygan. The couple have resided in Sheboygan, Kohler and since 2004, in Plymouth.

He joined his father in law practice and has been self-employed at Kalchthaler Law Office S.C. in Sheboygan.

He was a former member and past president of the Sheboygan Jaycees, Lakeshore Kiwanis Club, and the Lakeshore Apartment Association and a member of the State Bar Association. Philipp was responsible for bringing the Gus Macker 3-on-3 Tournament to Sheboygan and involved in starting the Kiwanis Lakefest Festival.

He enjoyed going to many sporting events with his son.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Joyce of Plymouth; son, Christian of Wauwatosa; mother-in-law, Doris Witthuhn of Plymouth; two brothers, Thomas (Mary Lynn) Kalchthaler of Larchmont, N.Y., and Mark Kalchthaler of Sheboygan; two sisters-inlaw, Sandra (Duane) Foelske of Waverly, Iowa, and Judith (Richard) Bassuener of Plymouth; nieces and nephews: Meghan, Jocelyn, Lindsey, Eric (Kari), Michael (LeAnn), Christy (Nate), Jeffrey and Jodi; and also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The Very Rev. Dennis Van Beek, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the church Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
