Boys & Girls Clubs honor outstanding Falls youth
The Boys & Girls Club of Sheboygan County strives to encourage and motivate its members with every opportunity available.
One way the club recognizes leadership abilities, positive attitudes and the ongoing respect members have for one another and staff is by awarding selected youth with the Youth of the Month honors.
Another quality the club places great importance on is sportsmanship. Therefore, the Club honors a Sportsperson of the Month. This member consistently shows fairness in all activities, emphasizing the true meaning of being a team player.
This member exemplifies the idea that there is no “I” in “team.” Each month the staff look for and award members whose leadership, positive attitude and respectful ways stand out.
Keegan Kuehne was selected as the Boys & Girls Club January Youth of the Month. Kuehne, 8, is a student at Sheboygan Falls Elementary School. When walking through the front doors of the club, he always brings a smile on his face.
Kuehne calls recess his favorite subject at school, soccer his favorite sport and blue his favorite color.
Many see Kuehne on a daily basis playing his hand-held video games, and discussing his hopes of attaining his dream job of being a video-game tester.
When asked what he would do with a million dollars, Kuehne said he would buy a mansion, every single video game from Game Stop and a carpet-ball table.
“Keegan is a real asset to the club because of his sunny and positive attitude,” said Anne Kelly, Sheboygan Falls Boys & Girls Club center director.
Isaac Klemme was selected as the Boys & Girls Club January Sportsperson of the Month.
Klemme, a student at Sheboygan Falls Elementary School, attends the club three or four times a week, with a smiling face.
His lists of favorites include: math as a favorite subject and green as his favorite color.
Klemme calls baseball his favorite sport, with dreams to become a coach of a baseball team one day. Because of his passion for baseball, he would buy two baseball diamonds, if he had a million dollars.
“Isaac is constantly getting involved in activities throughout various program areas, and is very adaptable to the different atmospheres of the rooms of the club,” said Dani Smith, staff member at the Sheboygan Falls Boys & Girls Club.
Toni Wischer, a 10th-grade student at Sheboygan Falls High School, was selected as the Youth of the Month for January at The Club at Three-9-TEEN in Sheboygan Falls.
Wischer attends the teen club on a daily basis, and is known for her hard work in the Keystone Club. Many days Wischer is seen playing pool, while socializing with friends.
“Toni always has a smile on her face, especially when assisting with check-in and check-out at the front desk on Friday evenings,” said John Hartley, teen coordinator at the Club at Three-9-TEEN.
Wischer also regularly takes advantage of the homework assistance she receives at the teen center.
The Boys & Girls Club strives to assist every child and provide a safe place for all youth to come after school in the Sheboygan Falls community.
