A call for volunteers at Wade House

Play your part in history by sharing with the future. Become a volunteer at Wade House, the Wisconsin Historical Society's 1860s historic site in the Sheboygan County village of Greenbush.

Volunteering at Wade House can be immensely rewarding. The nonprofit organization needs the dedicated assistance of community members willing to share their time and talents to help provide highquality historic programming and special events. There are numerous opportunities to be involved at many levels of commitment.

Here is your chance to spend a few hours a week, a weekend or on an ongoing basis to be a part of history. As a volunteer, you will meet and work with other volunteers and staff to educate visitors about the rich history at Wade House. Some current volunteer needs include:

• Information guides/greeters welcome visitors, facilitate surveys, hand out programs and provide directions.

• Office volunteers assist with general office duties, including mailings.

• Sewing volunteers, with guidance, help produce period clothing for the site.

• Special events volunteers help in various capacities during the special events, especially the two largest events, Arts & Crafts Fair and Civil War Weekend.

At Wade House your interests and availability are matched with their needs; many of these opportunities have flexible hours. The Wade House staff provides training and coaching; no experience is necessary.

If you would like to be a part of the exciting programs and events, or would like more information on becoming a volunteer, contact Mary Martin, Wade House Historic Site marketing manager, at (920) 526- 3271 or via e-mail at maryp.martin@wisconsinhistory.org.
