The Sheboygan Falls Common Council approved five public health and safety items, during a brief meeting Tuesday, March 2, at the City Hall Municipal Building.

The Council approved a public safety school/travel request for Blane Steinhaus to attend the State Fire Convention in Stevens Point, at a cost of $641.

It also endorsed a school/travel request for Sheboygan Falls Police Department Lt. Aaron Wigen, to attend an Event Security Planning Seminar at Volk Field in Camp Douglas.

Public Safety Committee Chairman Duane Glancey said Deputy Chief Steve Ross had planned to attend the seminar, which comes at no cost to the city.

“Deputy Chief Ross was going to go to the seminar when it was originally scheduled,” Glancey said. “However, that seminar was cancelled, due to poor weather.

“This time Deputy Chief Ross has elected not to take time away from the department, so he will not be attending,” he said.

In other business, the council approved a temporary Class B retailer’s license (one-day beer license) application for a Sheboygan Falls Conservation Club event March 7, at the Municipal Building.

The council also granted a temporary Class B retailer’s license (one-day beer license) application, submitted by the Farmer and Sportsmen Conservation Club for an event at the Municipal Building March 14.

In addition, an operator-license application was approved for Dawn Marie Klein.

Prior to the regular Common Council meeting, the Committee of the Whole met in closed session to discuss a two-hour call-in policy for the Department of Public Works.

The Committee of the Whole also met in closed session following the council meeting to conduct Fire and Police Commission candidate interviews.

The next Sheboygan Falls Common Council meeting will be held Tuesday, March 16, in the Council Chambers at the City Hall Municipal Building at 6:30 p.m.
