Flooring Studio lays down quality

As one of the newest flooring service businesses in Sheboygan County, the Flooring Studio in Sheboygan is looking to make its mark in the local home-improvement market.

After gaining 15 years of experience in the flooring-installation field, Almir and Indira Hadzidedic opened the Flooring Studio at 1526 Indiana Ave., Sheboygan, in April 2009.

Prior to opening, the Hadzidedics put a significant amount of time remodeling the store, which had served as the home of auto parts and hardware businesses in recent years.

“We put new walls up and did a lot of remodeling to make the flooring and carpet showroom look nice,” Indira said. “It took some time, but I think the store looks very good.

“There are still more improvements to be done, and we will continue to work on those,” she said.

During the past 11 months, the natives of Bosnia have enjoyed taking on the challenges of operating their own business.

“We had a busy first month right after we opened up last April,” Almir said. “Then the road was closed for construction for five months, from May to October.

“That hurt us, but things picked up again late last year around Christmas time,” he said. “We are looking forward to the spring months, which are normally very good for home remodeling and improvements.”

The Flooring Studio offers a wide range of flooring styles, including laminated, hardwood, carpet, duraceramic, ceramic and vinyl.

“We have any type of flooring a person could want to have in all colors and designs,” Almir said. “We have everything here for all flooring needs.”

In addition, the Hadzidedics feature a full in of carpeting from the top name-brand manufacturers.

“Mohawk is probably the most popular brand of carpeting,” Almir said. “The Mohawk brand has a lifetime stain warranty.

“It has soft bristles and is great for high-traffic areas, as well as for families with kids and pets,” he said.

Featured flooring brands include: Mohawk, Shaw, Beaulieu, Southwind, Mannington, Armstrong, Vesanti, Congolium, Milliken, Bruce, Aladdin and Berber.

Indira specializes in customer service and product assistance, while Almir takes care of installation needs.

“We do flooring for houses, apartments, businesses, really anything residential or commercial.” Almir said. “We help customers select the style of flooring that is best for them, take care of the sales and do all the installation work.

“We do all of the installation jobs ourselves, which I think is a big plus,” he said. “Also, all of our flooring has a 10 to 25-year warranty, depending on the manufacturer.”

Indira recently earned product knowledge and flooring sales certification from Mohawk University.

“Customer service is one of our top priorities,” she said. “We want customers to feel comfortable, when they come through our doors.

“We do our best to help all our customers through every step of the process, from selection to installation. We also do free estimates for all projects.”

According to Almir, the Flooring Studio stands firmly behind all of its products and services.

“If a customer has an issue or complaint with one of our products or services we have done for them, we work to fix the problem and ensure that the customer is completely happy,” he said. “We guarantee our installations for one year and up to 25 years, depending on the materials used.”

In difficult economic times, Almir said the Flooring Studio offers many affordable flooring options.

“The way the economy is, people are looking for some less expensive alternatives these days,” he said. “Vinyl flooring has become very popular for that reason. Frieze carpets are also in style right now for many people.

“Frieze carpets are very popular for home use, because they have a longer cut and a textured appearance,” he said.

With the spring season on the horizon, the Hadzidedics are expecting business to pick up substantially in the next several months.

“Spring and fall are normally the prime times for remodeling, especially March and April,” Almir said. “In the spring, people start thinking about making improvements, and in the fall they plan for getting their house ready for the holidays.

“Last week was the best week we’ve had since we opened,” he said. “We are hoping we can continue to build on that.”
