BENEDICT B. ZOLP
Benedict B. Zolp, age 85, formerly of 679 Aspen Grove, Sheboygan Falls, Wis., entered peacefully into eternal life Friday, March 5, 2010, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility in Plymouth where he had been a resident for the past 4 1/2 years.
He was born Jan. 16, 1925 in the town of Mitchell, Wis., a son of the late Ignatius and Appalonia Barkis Zolp. Ben attended Glenbeulah High School and later in life he attended Ekstrom Carlson Co. Training for Numerical Control.
On Sept. 28, 1946, he married Rita Strobel in Plymouth.
He farmed in the town of Mitchell and Greenbush while also working at Passini Cheese. Later he owned and operated Zolp’s Excavating Sand and Gravel. He was employed at Gilson Brothers Co. and later retired from K.W. Muth as the maintenance supervisor where he was able to use his numerical control training.
Ben was an avid fisherman and avid hunter especially enjoying rabbit hunting with his beagles. He also loved to travel and play golf. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Rita of Sheboygan Falls; three sons: Daniel (Wanda) Zolp of Plymouth, Timothy (Sharon) Zolp of Beechwood and Mitchell (Jackie) Zolp of Larson; three daughters: Mary Ellen (Don) Wagner of Adell, Jean (Steve) Groene of Plymouth and Rosanne (Dan) Weber of Sheboygan Falls; 13 grandchildren: James Stricker; Ryan, David and Kurt Zolp, Eric Groene, Kristin Mahler, Jennifer, Nicholas and Tanya Weber, Brandon and Justin Zolp and Matthew and Andrew Zolp; seven great-grandchildren: Jessica, Jodi and Julia Stricker, Danny Zolp, Alexander Zolp, Joshua and Addison Groene; and one sister, Xcee (Earl) Luth of Glenbeulah.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Randall; one grandson, Jason Stricker; his parents; three sisters, Stella Zolp, Sophie Jonelis and Helen Kind; and two brothers, Peter Zolp and Sam Zolp.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Father Wayne Bittner will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 4 p.m. Tuesday until the time of services.
A memorial fund is being established in Ben’s name for Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility.
