Sheboygan Falls Middle School is presenting the musical “Annie Jr.” this Friday and Saturday, March 12 and 13, at 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.

This shortened version is written by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and the lyrics by Martin Charnin, and the entire play comes together under the direction of the Sheboygan Falls Middle School music director, Rebecca Charbonneau.

This all-time favorite has been tailored to the talents and abilities of middle school students and has been shortened to keep their interest and still entertain the audience.

“Annie Jr.” tells of a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil shenanigans and witnesses the antics of her brother, Rooster and his con-artist girlfriend, Lily St. Regis.

Annie’s life comes together after she befriends President Franklin Roosevelt and then finds a new family in billionaire Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks; his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

“There are 90 students in the cast,” Charbonneau said. “That’s a large cut out of our 500 students in middle school.

“We would also like to invite family and friends to visit our art show, which can be seen during intermission or after the show in the cafeteria,” Charbonneau continued. “There will also be refreshments for a freewill offering.”
