Think Floyd re-creates Pink Floyd at Weill Center March 20
Think Floyd comes to the Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts in Sheboygan on Saturday, March 20, with a full production of the music and visual effects that match a Pink Floyd concert. The nine performers of Think Floyd re-create the music of Pink Floyd to finest detail.
This music is blanked by an intricate lighting show that pulls the audience into the performance and creates the most interactive emotions to music.
In the late ‘60s, Pink Floyd became recognized around the world for their psychedelic music and through the ‘70s no other performer received the praise of critiques and fans like they did. The music was a colorful mosaic of sounds, special effects, unique lyrical stories, thematic songs and intense production.
The forerunner of album rock, their albums were featured on radio around the world and hits came from the success of the albums. Such albums as Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall dominated the charts and became the standard by which classic albums were judged. A diehard fan base grew rapidly as Pink Floyd began to tour. As the first major tour to bring ultra quality sound and overwhelming lighting, Pink Floyd shows were the most talked about event in the concert industry.
Through the years, members of Pink Floyd left the band and participated in other projects, and with the passing of keyboardist Richard Wright in 2008, the only remaining key members are guitarist David Gilmore and bassist Roger Waters, who at this time refuse to work together. Gilmore and Waters occasionally tour with their own projects, which both feature the music of Pink Floyd.
To that end, when fans want to hear the music and see the intense stage performance and lighting of a Pink Floyd show, they now rely on a couple of major tributes shows that travel the world. The two most respected and fan-favorite tributes are Chicago-based Think Floyd, and The Australian Pink Floyd Show.
