TOMMIE L. “TUCKER” SCHULZ
Tommie L. “Tucker” Schulz, 67, of 1902 Post Road, Stevens Point, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Saint Michael's Hospital, Stevens Point.
Tommie was born Sept. 27, 1942 in Plymouth, the son of Waylon and Verna (Goldbeck) Schulz. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1960, and in 1976 earned his B.A. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
He entered the United States Navy on Nov. 20, 1962, and served his country two separate duties and was honorably discharged Nov. 19, 1968, in Bainbridge, Md. While in service, Tommie earned the Vietnam service medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Tommie was a 20-year employee of the Stevens Point Brewery, and later worked and retired from Sunrise Medical in 1993 due to health reasons.
He was a member of the Plover-Whiting Lions Club from 1977 to 1993, and served as president and tail twister. He served as union president at Stevens Point Brewery, and as union steward at Joerns Sunrise.
Tommie was secretary/treasurer for the junior classic and sportsman league. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, softball, fishing, and reading western novels. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan, UWSP Football and Team USA Softball follower.
Tommie is survived by his mother, Verna Goldbeck, Plymouth; two sons, Aaron and Paul Schulz, both of Stevens Point; three brothers, Jerry of Plymouth, Randy of Florida, and Waylon Jr. of Florida; and sisters, Dawn, Florida, and Debbie, Utah.
