ALBERT W. KATCHKEY

Albert W. Katchkey, 90, formerly of Sheboygan Falls, and a resident of the Sheboygan Senior Community for four years, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.

Albert was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Sheboygan to Louis and Mary (Zinmann) Katchkey. He graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1937.

On July 20, 1940, he married Agnes Pappas in Menominee, Mich. Agnes passed away July 2, 2001.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-45.

Albert worked as a heavy equipment operator for Kohler Co. for 45 years prior to his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club and Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls.

Albert loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, spectating sports, polka music, and playing sheepshead.

Albert is survived by one daughter, Theresa (Michael) Hermann of Greenbush; one son, David (Linda) Katchkey of West Chicago, Ill.; one grandson, Brian Hermann of Sheboygan; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Choy of Sheboygan, Dorothy Josephson of Pewaukee and Ida Hochstein of New York; one brother, Simon (Ellie) Katchkey of Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; wife Agnes; one son, Dennis Katchkey; one grandson, Jason Hermann; two sisters and five brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Interment and military honors will be held at Greendale Cemetery in Sheboygan.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls; and on Wednesday, March 17, at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10 a.m.
