Third time’s the charm for Lady Falcons.

Sheboygan Falls Falcons senior Lauren Carman said it all after the Falcons 63-43 win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran Saturday, March 13, in a WIAA Division 2 regional final girls basketball playoff game at Fond du Lac.

“The third time’s the charm,” Carman said. “We finally got over the hump.”

After flirting with the sectionals in recent years, the Falls girls basketball have finally earned the right to play the best teams in the state in sectional competition.

Carman, a four-year starter, had gone to the regional final game with the Falcons two out of the last three years, only to come up short of a sectional berth.

“It wasn’t any fun going home after the first two losses (2007 and 2008) and then losing in the first round last year,” remarked Carman. “We’re having fun now. We’re one big family. We don’t want this to end.”

Team members were seen dancing in the parking lot at Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac Saturday night.

After their big win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran, the girls partied all the way back to Falls. They even received an escort down State 32 from the Sheboygan Falls Fire Department.

The Falcons (18-7 overall) seem to be peaking at the right time of the season, riding a wave of strong defense in playoff action.

Falls has allowed just 39 points per game in the post season, while scoring an average of 63 points per game on offense.
