4-H-LIMA LITES – February and March

Our president, Callie Claerbaut, called the Lima Lites 4-H Club February meeting to order at 7 p.m. Pledges were led by Rachel Bohnhoff, Heather Reilly and Megan Hand. Roll call was “What is your favorite season?”

Rachel Bohnhoff then gave the secretary’s report. Heather Reilly made a motion and Wesley Hanson seconded the motion to approve the secretary’s report. Abby Mauer gave the treasurer’s report. Shaun Jens made a motion, Nadine Dragan seconded the motion to approve the treasurer’s report.

Ashley Meyer started a committee to help choose the incentive prizes for the year. Hannah Schleicher gave the sunshine report. She asked if anyone needs cards made.

Old business:

Ann Hand talked about the Music and Drama play. It would be held at the UW Theater Feb. 20 at 10:45 a.m.

New business:

Erika Schleicher talked about making a quilt for the County Fair booth. Each member will be decorating their own piece of 8-by-8-inch square fabric. After all are done, the sewing group will help put it together. Kelly Jens made a motion to approve the quilt, with Michelle Reilly seconding the motion.

Jeff Schleicher talked about summer camp at Wisconsin Dells. He also talked about the parents’ meeting we had, and the parents had an idea to take some kids to other clubs to see what goes on in their clubs.

The meeting was adjourned by Dylan Humphrey and seconded by Jarod Glander. Talk and demos were given by Dylan Humphrey and Kayla Stokdyk. Next meeting would be held March 8 at 7 p.m.

Rachel Bohnhoff gave the secretary’s report. Jimmy Jens made a motion to approve the secretary’s report with Dylan Humphrey seconding the motion. Abby Mauer gave the treasurer’s report. Shaun Jens made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report and Aaron Schleicher seconded the motion.

Hannah Schleicher gave the sunshine report. She made a “get well” card for Missy Buckman.

For Community Builders this month, we were collecting new or gently used books, and donating them to “Clayton Corner.” This is a section of the library at Northern Ozaukee Elementary School. “Clayton Corner” is in memory of a 9-year-old boy who was hit by a car. He had a passion for reading.

Literature information was handed out by Erika Schleicher for our projects.

Old business:

Pam Brink had each member pick out a square of fabric. Brink talked about the quilt, and each member is supposed to decorate your 8-by-8-inch fabric and bring it back at the May meeting. The fabric will be used to make a quilt for the fair booth.

Jen Humphrey and Ann Hand talked about the Music and Drama play. We got first place on Quick Change Award. Jen Humphrey and Ann Hand handed out the ribbons to the members in the play.

New business:

Collin Berke had a meeting to pick out the incentive prizes. He would like to have another meeting next month.

Ashley Meyer asked if anyone would like to do the bowl-a-thon. Bowling day is April 25 at Lakeshore Lanes.

Callie Claerbaut had the members stand up if they would like to join softball.

There will be a cake-decorating meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday the 20th at Jane Sukowaty’s house. Please bring a cake unfrosted or cupcakes, that you will be using to learn and practice on.

General leaders information:

Jeff Schleicher told us summer camp was changed to Aug. 3-6. He said members just going into third grade are welcome to go to camp.

Jeff told the members that Communication Art Festival entry forms are due by March 22. Volunteers are needed for the festival.

Callie Claerbaut, Jeff and Erika Schleicher are attending the Spring Leadership Training on April 22. Jeff Schleicher told us we did really good at our pizza sales. The meeting was adjourned by Kelly Jens and seconded by Wesley Hanson. Talk and demos were given by Tiffany Humphrey, Jake Hand, Emily Schaefers and Wesley Hanson. Hosts for this month were the Debbink, Mauer, and Meyer families. Next meeting will be held April 12 at 7 p.m.
