To the Editor:
In the last month I have attended several events held at the Greenbush Town Hall. I find it lucky that the small little town of Greenbush has such a large and spacious place in which both the fire department and the town have their own areas. Not only is the parking lot large enough to hold all inside, but the sidewalks are wide enough to be used for a wheelchair. My children have spent many hours on the safe and well built playground equipment.
I have rented the hall for numerous events – my children’s birthdays, family holidays and scrapbooking retreats.
There are 16, 6-foot plastic tables that are easy for one person to set up. The kitchen area, with a large number of plug-in outlets, brags more counter space then any home that I have ever been in! Also, the kitchen has a refrigerator, microwave and stove – appliances that look brand new.
I am not the only person that uses this facility, as it is in use 14-to-20 days per month. It is home to the Spring Valley and the Kettle Moraine 4-H Clubs, the Cordalettes and the Greenbush Prospectors. It has hosted countless brat frys for the Greenbush Kettle Moraine Trail Blazers Snowmobile club as well as other fundraising events.
If you have been in the building, or even driven past, you will noticed that it is very well maintained. This little hall is now 10 years old and it looks as great as when it was brand new. The floors and the bathrooms are clean, the windows are washed and the flower beds are in excellent condition. This is all in thanks to Mr. Richie Braun. He makes daily visits to the hall and keeps it looking its best. While he is paid for his time and supplies, it keeps the place looking top notch. To keep the costs down, he voluntarily cleans the fire department portion. What a shame it would be if we did not take care of what the town residents paid a lot of money to build.
So the next time you are driving past the Greenbush Town Hall, take note of the excellent condition it is in. If you are there for an event or fundraiser, appreciate how clean the building iseven the windows! This facility is available for rent – if someone has not already taken your desired date – for a small fee. Contact any member of the town of Greenbush Board and they will be happy to direct you to the person responsible for the calendar of events.
