The Sheboygan Falls boys track and field team kicked off its 2010 season with a fourth-place showing at the Sheboygan North Indoor Invitational Saturday, March 20.

The Falcons tallied 39 points to take fourth-place honors, behind meet champs Little Chute, Sheboygan North (second place) and Sheboygan South (third place).

The Falls 1600 relay team of Andy Ansay, Alex Grabowski, Matt Hasler and Lucas LaCrosse established a new Sheboygan North Fieldhouse record, with a time of three minutes and 47.42 seconds en route to a first-place finish.

The time shattered the previous fieldhouse record time of 3:56, set last year by the same Falls relay team.

Matt Hasler added a first-place finish for the Falcons in the 800 run, while setting a new fieldhouse record time of 2:09.12.

Other top showings were turned by Falls’ Alex Grabowski (third place, 400 run, 55.88 and fourth place, triple jump, 38-11¾), Lucas LaCrosse (sixth place, 1600 run, 4:54.03, personal record) and Andy Ansay (eighth place, long jump, 18-2¼).

In addition, the Falls 800 relay team of Andy Ansay, Sam Kaeppel, Nick Hietala and Sean McKinster placed fifth in 2:13.12 and the 640 relay unit of Sam Kaeppel, Sean McKinster, Ian Offult and Nick Hietala wound up ninth in 1:26.76.

“This was an excellent opening meet for our veterans, and great meet for our new runners to get their feet wet,” Falls head coach Chuck Otte said. “It is a nice starting point to build on for the rest of the season.”

The Falcons are set to compete at the Manitowoc Indoor Relays Thursday, March 25, while the Falls junior varsity team will visit Sheboygan North for another indoor meet Friday, March 26.
