Literacy volunteer training offered
If you’ve ever wanted to have a life-changing impact on someone in your community, consider becoming a literacy tutor. Volunteer tutors with the Literacy Council Project of the Family Resource Center of Sheboygan County change lives in Sheboygan County each time they help an individual improve their basic literacy skills, or learn to read, write, and speak in English.
The Literacy Council places tutors with students across Sheboygan County. Currently, there is a high need for tutors in the southwestern part of the county. To help meet this need, there will be a training session in Plymouth April 6 and 8. The training is from 5:30 to 9 p.m. both evenings. All training and instructional materials will be provided.
The Literacy Council is currently seeking volunteers who are interested in providing literacy tutoring for adults who want to improve their reading and writing skills to gain employment, find a better job, read to their children, and achieve other educational, personal, and work-related goals. The Literacy Council provides training and no prior tutoring or teaching experience is required.
