Purple Heart vets sought for Flag Day parade

The 2010 Flag Day celebration in Waubeka will honor Purple Heart veterans.

The National Flag Day Foundation, based in the northern Ozaukee County community, is looking for veterans who received the Purple Heart for combat wounds to participate in the Flag Day parade Saturday, June 13. The group is hoping to gather the largest number of Purple Heart veterans for the event.

The parade starts at 1:30 p.m. and all Purple Heart veterans who register in advance will receive valet parking and a free lunch.

The parade will be preceded by a program, led by Gus Gnorski of Fox 6 television in Milwaukee, at noon at the Americanism Center in Waubeka. The parade will be followed by family day events including fireworks.

Purple Heart veterans who wish to take part in the parade as asked to send their name, address, branch of service and where they served to National Flag Day Foundation, P.O. Box 55, Fredonia, WI 53021.
