Lisowe leads EL-G at Oshkosh Invite

OSHKOSH – Senior Justin Lisowe captured fifth in the 1,600-meter run to lead the Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah Resorters in the Oshkosh Invitational boys small school indoor track meet Thursday.

Lisowe had a time of 5 minutes, 13.42 seconds. The Resorters finished 12th with eight points in the 13- team Division 3 field at UW-Oshkosh’s Kolf Sports Center. Fond du Lac Saint Mary’s Springs was first with 78.

The Howards Grove Tigers competed in the Division 2 portion of the invitational and finished 21st with six points. Little Chute was the champion with 67, followed by Kiel with 42.

Senior Mike Verfuerth was the Tigers’ top place-winner at sixth in the long jump with a 19-3 effort. The top-eight finishers in each event scored team points.

Verfuerth also placed seventh in the 55 high hurdles in 8.49. Howards’ other place-winner was Matt Wleklinski who took eighth in the triple jump with 39-3½.

The Resorters’ other place-winners were Adam Ruechel, sixth in the 800 in 2 minutes, 19.95 seconds and Matt Russman, eighth in the 3,200 with a 12:04.34 clocking.

The invitational was the season debuts for Elkhart and Howards.
